History of Ontario International Airport and its Hollywood ties — ONT Airport Guide

History Ontario International

Ontario International Airport is quite a historic place. Born as Latimer Field in 1923, it was named after an orange packing company located next to the airstrip.

It is actually five years older than Los Angeles International Airport, which controlled ONT for decades. The City of Ontario purchased a 30-acre tract in 1929 in the southwest corner of the present airport for $12,000.
