GM Buyback Draws Criticism From UAW and Michigan’s Mike Rogers

Michigan Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers and the United Auto Workers separately criticized General Motors on Tuesday over its $20 billion stock buyback, accusing the automaker of favoring shareholders over workers.
Rogers said GM should invest in Michigan workers. The UAW called the buyback “outrageous,” saying 80% of GM autoworkers lack pensions or retiree healthcare benefits.
GM said investing in its business and employees remains its first priority, citing more than $100 billion reinvested since 2020.
