Amtrak passenger train splits truck in half in Westland collision

An investigation is underway in Westland Thursday morning after an Amtrak train collided with a utility truck, splitting the vehicle in half. The back of the vehicle can be seen partially underneath the front of the train.

Aerial footage of the scene from Sky4 shows the truck’s detached cab beside the train crossing on Merriman Road, just south of Michigan Avenue.
