Macron Says France Faces “Moment of Extreme Gravity,” Blames Far-Left Groups for Violence

President Emmanuel Macron said France was facing “a moment of extreme gravity,” accusing members of far-left extremist groups of unleashing “unbridled violence.”

“Shops and town halls have been destroyed, and several hundred police officers and gendarmes have been injured,” he said.

Reacting to images of the destruction, Macron asked: “How can French people do this to France? How did they come to this?”
