Video: CFB Wainwright Fire: Deaths Confirmed at Alberta Military Base

CFB Wainwright fire casualties include deaths and injuries, Canada’s Defence Minister David McGuinty confirmed after a major incident at the military base in Alberta on Saturday, October 17.
McGuinty did not provide a casualty count or confirm the cause. The Canadian military and Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating.
Social media reports claimed at least seven people were killed and dozens injured. Those figures remain unconfirmed in the official information reviewed.
AZ Intel also reported air ambulances transporting patients from Wainwright to Edmonton. A separate account attributed to Canadian Armed Forces sources suggested a live-fire exercise struck a gas line or gas well, triggering an explosion. That explanation has not been officially confirmed.
The RCMP said officers were called shortly after 4 p.m. following reports of a fire in a training area. Local authorities reported that flames crossed the base’s perimeter fence and spread rapidly in strong winds.
