Norte fire in south OC at 5% containment as gusty winds expected to ramp up

Firefighters worked through the night to suppress the Norte fire, strengthen containment lines and extinguish hot spots, the OCFA said in a Saturday morning update. The Norte fire has scorched 570 acres.

Containment is the area beyond which the fire is not expected to expand. Some 6,000 homes and 16,000 residents remain under evacuation orders, officials said Saturday.
