N.J. weather: Severe thunderstorm warnings issued in parts of state as strong storms develop

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of New Jersey where strong storms have started to move across the region Friday evening. Wind gusts up to 50 mph were expected through 7:15 p.m.

A special weather statement issued at 6:13 p.m. warned of a strong thunderstorm moving east over portions of Somerset County.
