Hatteras Island visitors ordered to evacuate ahead of coastal storm

– A state of emergency has been issued for Hatteras Island, along with a mandatory evacuation order for visitors that took effect at 8 p.m. No evacuation order has been issued for residents of Hatteras Island or for areas north of Oregon Inlet.

The evacuation order applies only to visitors on Hatteras Island.
