Beirut airport shortcomings could delay direct U.S.–Lebanon flights, report says

Shortcomings at Beirut’s airport are expected to delay the restoration of direct flights between the United States and Lebanon, according to an internal United Nations aviation agency report.
The report says the airport’s certification has lapsed and Lebanon lacks a fully established, operational and independent aircraft accident investigation authority.
Lebanon’s transport minister said airport certification was expected within days and that steps were underway to address the concerns.
