Katie Zacharia did not pass California bar exam, WSJ reports

Katie Zacharia, the White House press secretary, took the California bar exam but did not pass, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Citing a person with direct knowledge, the newspaper said Zacharia sat for the exam after graduating from Pepperdine University’s law school in 2011. She subsequently moved to Beijing, where she worked on an international practice team at Zhong Lun Law Firm.

The report adds to scrutiny of her legal credentials after President Donald Trump described her as an attorney when announcing her appointment.

Zacharia has said she practiced international transaction law “with all the appropriate credentials.”
