Aili Wang accused of poisoning colleague’s tea in Wyoming, arrested at LAX

Aili Wang, a 32-year-old Chinese microbiology graduate student in Wyoming, has been accused of poisoning a colleague’s tea and attempting to leave the United States after police questioned her, according to the Associated Press.
Wang was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on October 6 while allegedly trying to return to China.
Prosecutors allege she purchased acrylamide, a chemical later detected in water from the coffee maker the colleague used to prepare tea.
The colleague was conducting patent-pending research involving disease-treatment technology. Investigators also allege surveillance footage showed Wang searching through the colleague’s desk.
The accusations have not been proven in court.
