A magnitude 2.9 earthquake was recorded near Matamata at 2026-10-13 04:19 NZDT, according to European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The earthquake was measured at a depth of about 10.0 km. The epicenter was approximately 8 km from Matamata.
