Brooklyn building evacuated over high carbon monoxide levels

Brooklyn building evacuated by the FDNY on Sunday afternoon after crews responding to a manhole fire detected elevated carbon monoxide levels on Cortelyou Road in Flatbush, according to ABC7 New York.
Firefighters responded around 1 p.m. on October 11. Upon arrival, they detected high levels of the potentially deadly gas.
The building, located between Ocean Avenue and East 21st Street, was cleared as a precaution.
Carbon monoxide detected during emergency response
Carbon monoxide has no smell or taste, making it difficult for people to detect without an alarm. Exposure can be fatal.
The ABC7 report did not specify how many people were evacuated, whether anyone was injured or when occupants could return.
