VIDEO: Hurricane Isaias leaves more than 500,000 without power as flooding and tornado threat moves north

Hurricane Isaias power outages have left more than 500,000 customers without electricity after the storm caused widespread damage along the Gulf Coast.

Video from affected areas shows extensive storm damage, including downed trees, flooded roads and damaged power infrastructure as crews begin assessing the impact.

Isaias moves north after Gulf Coast damage

Isaias is continuing northward, bringing the threat of heavy rain, flash flooding, damaging winds and tornadoes to additional states across the Southeast.

Communities in the storm’s path are being warned to remain alert as the system moves inland.

More than 500,000 customers without power

Utility companies are responding to widespread outages caused by fallen trees, damaged power lines and strong winds.

Restoration efforts could take time in the hardest-hit areas, particularly where roads remain blocked or flooding is preventing crews from reaching damaged infrastructure.

Flooding and tornado threat continues

Even as Isaias moves farther from the Gulf Coast, the storm remains dangerous.

Heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding and river flooding, while bands of thunderstorms east of the storm’s center may continue producing tornadoes.

The Hurricane Isaias power outages and severe weather threat are expected to continue as the storm tracks north.
