Tornado Warning Whiteville NC, Brunswick NC and Hallsboro NC is in effect until 12:45 p.m. EDT Sunday as a radar-indicated tornado threatens parts of southeastern North Carolina.
The warning includes Whiteville, Brunswick, Hallsboro and nearby communities, where residents should move to shelter immediately.
Radar indicates possible tornado
The National Weather Service says radar is detecting rotation capable of producing a tornado in the warned area.
Pea-sized hail is also possible with the storm.
Residents should move to a small interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows.
People in mobile homes or vehicles should seek a more substantial shelter if it is safe to do so.
The Tornado Warning Whiteville NC, Brunswick NC and Hallsboro NC remains in effect until 12:45 p.m. EDT unless extended or canceled earlier.
