Yandex hit again: Vladimir data center shut down after new Ukrainian drone attack

Yandex data center attack caused a new wave of outages across the Russian technology giant’s network after drones struck its facility in the Vladimir region on Sunday morning.
Yandex confirmed that infrastructure at the Vladimir data center was damaged and that the facility was completely shut down following the attack. No injuries were reported.
Second major Yandex network disruption
Internet monitoring data showed another sharp deterioration across Yandex services after the Vladimir facility went offline, adding to widespread problems already affecting the company’s cloud infrastructure.
More than 80 Yandex Cloud services were reported affected, including computing, databases, networking, artificial intelligence and other digital products.
The latest incident comes only days after strikes damaged Yandex facilities in the Ryazan and Kaluga regions, making Vladimir the third major Yandex data center hit within several days.
Yandex Cloud services disrupted again
The company has been struggling to restore full capacity following the earlier attacks.
Yandex Cloud previously confirmed that one of its main availability zones remained unavailable and that engineers had moved to manual management of computing and storage capacity while recovery work continued.
The new strike in Vladimir has placed additional pressure on infrastructure already operating with reduced capacity.
Ukraine expands attacks on Russian technology infrastructure
The latest Yandex data center attack is part of a widening Ukrainian campaign against Russian digital and technology infrastructure.
Recent strikes have targeted facilities supporting cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other services used by businesses and consumers across Russia.
The attacks have also affected Yandex services outside Russia, with disruptions reported in neighboring countries.
Yandex faces growing pressure after repeated strikes
Yandex is one of Russia’s largest technology companies and operates search, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, transport, e-commerce and other major digital services.
Repeated attacks on its data centers could complicate efforts to restore services, particularly if damage affects specialized computing equipment used for artificial intelligence and cloud operations.
The Yandex data center attack in Vladimir marks another major disruption for the company as engineers work to restore services and assess damage across multiple facilities.
