Rachel expected to make landfall tonight
The National Hurricane Center says Rachel is expected to cross the coast of northern Baja California later tonight.
Although Rachel has transitioned into a post-tropical cyclone, it continues to produce strong winds and potentially hazardous weather as it moves quickly toward land.
Strong winds and heavy rain remain possible
Areas near the path of Rachel could experience strong wind gusts, periods of heavy rainfall and dangerous coastal conditions.
Rapid runoff may also cause localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and locations with poor drainage.
Rachel moving rapidly toward the coast
Rachel’s fast forward speed means conditions can change quickly across northern Baja California.
Residents and travelers in affected areas should continue monitoring local emergency alerts and avoid flooded roads or exposed coastal locations as Post-Tropical Cyclone Rachel makes landfall.
