Houston County, Alabama, Closes All Roads Amid Isaias Damage

Houston County roads in southeastern Alabama are closed until further notice because of hazardous conditions caused by Hurricane Isaias, the Dothan–Houston County Emergency Management Agency announced.
In a press release dated October 9, 2026, the agency said strong winds had brought down trees and power lines, making travel dangerous across the county.
The notice also said Houston County remained under a flash flood warning, with ongoing concerns about flooding and water-covered roads.
Emergency responders, utility workers and road crews are assessing damage, removing debris and working to restore safe travel conditions.
The agency said all Houston County roads will remain closed until conditions are deemed safe for travel. No reopening time was provided.
The statement, signed by Emergency Management Director Mark Powell, said further updates would be released as information becomes available.
