A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded near Taupo at 2026-10-09 02:53 NZDT, according to European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The earthquake was measured at a depth of about 5.0 km. The epicenter was approximately 81 km from Taupo.
