Saudi Arabia Intercepts Houthi Ballistic Missile North of Riyadh

The Saudi-led coalition announced Wednesday, October 7, that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile north of Riyadh, accusing Yemen’s Houthi group of launching the attack.

Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said Saudi forces were tracking the missile’s launch platform in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

According to the coalition, intelligence systems identified the suspected launch site, and military forces were preparing to target it.

The reported interception comes amid escalating military tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, following recent missile and drone attacks in the region.

The coalition also reported intercepting a separate Houthi ballistic missile targeting Khamis Mushait in southwestern Saudi Arabia.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage resulting from the interception north of Riyadh.

This is a developing story.
