Video: Police Move In Near Place de la Nation After Fire During Paris Student March

Police intervened near Place de la Nation in Paris on Tuesday as tensions rose during a major student demonstration and a fire broke out along the route of the march.

Video from the scene shows officers moving toward the front of the procession as protesters gathered in the area.

The demonstration was part of a nationwide mobilization by French high school students demanding more resources, better school conditions and additional staff. Thousands took part in protests across France on October 6, with clashes and fires reported in several cities. 

Authorities maintained a heavy police presence in Paris as the march traveled from Place de la République toward Place de la Nation.
