ASOS customers receive ‘ASOS HACKED’ notification claiming company’s Snowflake system was compromised

ASOS customers have reported receiving a bizarre push notification through the retailer’s app claiming that the company had been hacked and threatening to leak information.
The notification, titled “ASOS HACKED,” was reportedly sent to hundreds of users on Tuesday.
The message was addressed to ASOS’s data protection and IT teams and claimed that attackers had “fully compromised” the company’s Snowflake instance, referring to the cloud data platform used by many large businesses.
The notification warned ASOS to engage with the sender or face the alleged leaking of company information and included a link to a Telegram account.
Customers in several countries reported receiving the same message, raising concerns that someone may have gained access to an ASOS system capable of sending official app notifications.
However, ASOS has not yet publicly confirmed that its Snowflake environment was compromised, and the scale or nature of any potential data breach remains unclear.
The incident comes only months after ASOS disclosed a separate U.S. customer-account breach affecting more than 100,000 people, although there is currently no confirmed link between the two incidents.
Customers are being advised not to click links contained in the suspicious notification and to wait for official guidance from ASOS.
The investigation into the apparent cybersecurity incident is ongoing.
