Reckless driver crashes into barrier in Washington, DC after US Park Police officer tries to catch up

A driver was hospitalized after crashing into a Jersey barrier on South Capitol Street SE in Washington, DC, after a U.S. Park Police officer spotted the vehicle being driven recklessly.

According to U.S. Park Police, an officer observed the vehicle and attempted to catch up with it.

Before the officer could reach the car, the driver crashed on his own into a barrier near Interstate 695 in the Navy Yard area.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the driver to a hospital.

Police said the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not released the driver’s identity or additional details about what led to the reckless driving.
