St. Louis police hunt suspect linked to string of nighttime home burglaries

St. Louis Metropolitan Police are searching for a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of nighttime burglaries across several neighborhoods, including incidents in occupied homes.

Detectives are investigating four burglaries and at least one attempted burglary reported between September 30 and October 4 in Soulard, Compton Heights, Shaw and Skinker-DeBaliviere.

Police said investigators identified a pattern after reviewing reports and photos gathered during the cases and now believe the same suspect may be involved.

The burglaries have generally occurred between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.

In one incident, police said the suspect entered a bedroom while residents were asleep and stole items.

Authorities are urging residents to lock doors and windows before going to bed and to call 911 immediately if they see someone looking into homes or notice suspicious activity.

Police also warned residents not to confront the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Louis police or CrimeStoppers.
