‘Zombie storm’ Faye still out there, Florida to see wet weekend

As of Oct. 2, there have been no hurricanes and eight tropical storms in the Atlantic basin. The next name in the Atlantic will be Isaias.

Warning areas and potential impact

It's going to be a wet weekend, however.

Remnants of former Hurricane Polo are moving across the southern United States and are expected to bring heavy rain to the Panhandle and North Florida, while a line of showers and thunderstorms is coming up the Gulf Coast.

Isolated storms are expected across the rest of the state, with localized flooding possible.

On the other coast, El Niño is pumping up hurricane activity in the Pacific, with 18 named storms so far this season.

The latest, Hurricane Rachel, is weakening slightly as it moves away from the West Coast south of the Baja California peninsula.
