Runners who want to say they raced down a runway have until Oct.
Official response and confirmed impact
18 to lock in the early price for Run the Runway, a 5K and 1-mile walk on the Baxter County Airport runway set for Saturday, Oct.
24. The race starts at 7:30 a.m., and registration is $25 for either event at pirateperryevents.com before the price goes up.
The course is the draw.
Baxter County Airport’s single runway stretches 5,000 feet, nearly a mile of asphalt that is normally off limits to anyone without a pilot’s license or a reason to be on the field.
Volunteers will guide runners and walkers around the airport grounds and down the runway, with one partial bonus loop near the half-mile mark on the 5K course.
The 5K is chip timed from a gun start.
Everyone who finishes gets a medal, and the top three men and women overall will take home awards along with the top three in nine age divisions, from 9 and under to 70 and older.
