Two People Seriously Injured in Interstate 55 Crash North of Dwight

The Illinois State Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 southbound just north of Dwight.
Victims and emergency response
ISP Troop 3 responded to the crash this afternoon near milepost 222 in Grundy County. Two occupants were injured and transported to local hospitals.
The southbound lanes of I-55 are currently shut down. Traffic is being diverted at the Gardner exit, near milepost 227.
ISP says the closure is expected to last several hours. Motorists are urged to seek an alternate route and avoid the area.
