John Kane and state Rep. Christina Sappey advocated for the grant, which was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

According to Longwood Fire Company Chief A.J. McCarthy, “This equipment is essential to the lifesaving care our firefighters, medics, and EMTs provide every day.

We are often the first team to respond to local incidents, so having this equipment available on our fire and EMS apparatus can make a critical difference when every second counts.

We are extremely grateful for the support of Sen. John Kane and Rep. Christina Sappey, whose advocacy helped make this investment possible.”

Kennett Square Mayor Matt Fetick added, “I truly appreciate the continued partnership with Rep. Sappey and Sen. Kane.

Their commitment to helping improve public safety here in Kennett Square truly benefits our community.”

The fire company will use the money to replace aging equipment with four LIFEPAK cardiac monitors and defibrillators.
