Handorf’s school record leads No. 5 Bolts to win at ACGC

Max Handorf lowered his own school record, 10 Bolts finished in under 20 minutes and the Baxter boys cross country team won the ACGC Cross Country Invitational on Sept.

24. The Class 1A No. 5 Bolts scored 63 points at the top of the standings.
That was nine in front of 3A Winterset and 22 better than 3A Nevada. Baxter pivoted to this meet after West Marshall’s meet on Sept.
22 was canceled due to weather.
“All the athletes ran extremely well because they have put in a ton of miles and hard work,” Baxter head cross country coach Ian Thomson said.
“Tonight on both sides, we just finally got a meet where we weren’t fighting the mud and/or heat.”
Led by Elise Hauser, the Baxter girls were ninth in the 15-team field. Class 1A No.
2 Handorf won the boys’ 5K race with a school-record time of 16 minutes, 12.2 seconds.
