Flash flood warning triggers Kauai school, highway closures

The island of Kauai is under a Flash Flood Warning prompting a school closure and a highway closure.

Our First Alert Weather team has declared Wednesday a First Alert Weather Day for the island of Kauai.

Hanalei Elementary School on Kauai will be closed to students and staff Wednesday, Sept.

30, due to heavy rain and flooding on Kuhio Highway near the Hanalei River Bridge, preventing safe access to and from the school.
