Northern Ireland made it four points from their opening two Nations League matches after a goalless draw with Hungary at the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park on Monday night.

Michael O’Neill’s side had the better of a tight first half and came closest to scoring when Patrick Kelly’s close-range effort looped onto the crossbar.

Kelly had earlier forced a save from Balázs Tóth, while Isaac Price and Trai Hume also tried their luck from distance.

Hungary grew into the match after the interval, though clear chances remained scarce.

Substitute Donát Bárány headed over from close range, and Ruairi McConville produced an important block as the visitors pressed late on.

At the other end, Tóth pushed away a Price effort after the ball broke to the Northern Ireland midfielder inside the box.

Pierce Charles was finally called into action near the end, saving from Alex Tóth to preserve a second successive clean sheet.
