New MARC train connects county to Baltimore

Montgomery County commuters can now ride a MARC train straight to Baltimore without changing trains. The Maryland Transit Administration launched a new weekday through service Monday.

Official response and confirmed impact

One train runs to Baltimore each morning. A second train returns each evening.

The morning train leaves Brunswick at 6 a.m. and makes select stops through Montgomery County. After Silver Spring, it skips Union Station in Washington.

It switches to the Camden Line and continues to College Park, Laurel and Camden Station in Baltimore.

The evening train leaves Camden Station at 5 p.m. It makes the same stops in reverse and reaches Brunswick at 7:05 p.m.

The service runs just one trip each way per weekday. Riders who miss it still need to transfer at Union Station.

The change also affects riders who took this train to Washington. It no longer stops at Union Station.

Those riders can switch to Metro’s Red Line or Train 874 at Rockville or Silver Spring.
