No major power outages as of Friday afternoon as Hurricane Nolo approaches

Hawaiian Electric continues around-the-clock monitoring of Hurricane Nolo as the storm approaches the state.

There were no major outages on Hawaiʻi County, Maui County or on Oʻahu as of 3:30 p.m.

Friday; however, saturated ground conditions from recent rainfall continue to increase the risk of falling trees and vegetation-related damage to electrical equipment — even in areas not experiencing the strongest winds.

The utility company also continues encouraging customers to remain prepared for possible outages as Nolo is expected to unleash strong winds and heavy rain.
