Pima County fugitive returned to face charges after Mexico arrest

Jorge Lamadrid-Carranza, a fugitive wanted on Arizona and Michigan warrants dating to 2009, has been returned to the United States following his arrest in Mexico nearly three years ago.

A fugitive wanted on Arizona and Michigan warrants dating to 2009 has been returned to the United States following his arrest in Mexico nearly three years ago.

Jorge Lamadrid-Carranza was apprehended by Mexican authorities in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, on Oct. 16, 2023.

U.S. Marshals Service Deputies returned him to the United States on Sept. 24 and brought him to Arizona to address his Pima County case.

"Lamadrid-Carranza's arrest in Mexico and return to Arizona took years of persistence and cooperation across borders," U.S. Marshal Van Bayless for the District of Arizona said.

"We appreciate the work of Mexican authorities and our law enforcement partners in bringing him back before the courts."

"Time and distance did not end our commitment to seeing these cases addressed," Bayless said.
