Nonessential travel discouraged on Hana Highway due to Hurricane Nolo

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation is asking residents and visitors to exercise caution and pause nonessential travel to East Maui on Hāna Highway (Route 360).

Warning areas and potential impact

As Hurricane Nolo passes south of the island chain, the narrow Hāna Highway into East Maui is susceptible to fallen trees, rocks and flooding.

The current forecast shows East Maui could potentially receive four to six inches of rain, with 10 inches in isolated areas.
