Blackduck, Minnesota man charged after threatening woman in high school parking lot

A Blackduck man is facing felony charges after school staff say he confronted a woman in the Blackduck High School parking lot, pinned her with her car door and threatened to kill her.

Arrest and charges

According to the complaint, the school principal reported witnessing an altercation in the parking lot on Sept. 23 involving Gourley and a woman.

The principal said she saw Gourley push the woman’s car door shut on her and heard him yell, “I will kill you,” after the woman got into her vehicle.

The principal told Gourley to leave school property, and he complied.

Surveillance video reviewed by investigators showed Gourley approach the woman as she left the school and follow her to her vehicle, where he placed his hand and body against the driver’s door to prevent her from getting in.

The video showed the woman forcing the door open, at which point Gourley pushed it into her, pinning her between the door and the vehicle frame.

Another school employee also witnessed the incident and gave an account consistent with the principal’s, according to the complaint.

Charges and court proceedings

Eric Gourley, 58, is charged with terroristic threats, fifth-degree drug possession and misdemeanor domestic assault, according to a criminal complaint filed in Beltrami County District Court.
