Massachusetts part of multi-state hepatitis A outbreak

Massachusetts is one of four states involved in a hepatitis A outbreak that has been linked to contaminated clams, according to health officials.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the latest data on the outbreak one week ago.

At that time, 37 cases had been identified, with patients ranging in age from 6 to 40 years old.

Thirty people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.

Health officials believe the outbreak may be connected to raw or undercooked clams contaminated with hepatitis A.
