Fire in fifth-wheel trailer parked behind Jackson home leaves 76-year-old woman dead

An investigation is underway after a fire in a fifth-wheel trailer in Jackson Thursday afternoon left a 76-year-old woman dead.

The fire broke out around 1 p.m. in a trailer behind a home on 3rd Street, between Union and McBride Streets, according to the Jackson Fire Department.

Fire crews got to the scene within three minutes of the initial call and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the trailer.

Authorities say it spread to a detached garage. While firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control, the woman was found dead inside the trailer.
