N.C. Forest Service Calls On caution as fall wildfire season begins

The N.C. Forest Service is reminding people to use extra caution with outdoor burning as fall wildfire season begins across the state.

Wildfire activity in North Carolina typically increases from October through early December.

Officials say falling leaves, dry vegetation and changing weather conditions can allow a small fire to spread quickly.

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler says more than 99% of wildfires in North Carolina are caused by human activity.
