Driver sentenced to 12 years in fatal 2024 Nampa crash that killed 31-year-old

A deadly crash in a Nampa neighborhood that sent a car into two homes and killed a 31-year-old passenger ended with a 12-year prison sentence for the driver.

On Sept. 22, 2026, Angel Eduardo Rico was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with three years fixed and nine years indeterminate, for the Dec.

1, 2024, crash that killed Jose Teran Chaparro . Under Third Judicial District Judge Randall Grove’s sentence, Rico will be eligible for parole after serving three years.

The crash happened near East Amity Avenue and Diamond Street when Rico’s vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, hit a berm in a private yard, and became airborne.
