Residents in Ohio County may notice an increased emergency response presence Thursday morning as multiple agencies conduct a lockdown and evacuation drill at Wheeling Central Catholic High School.

The annual workshop is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.

Officials said they are sharing the information in advance to assure the public there is nothing to worry about because it is only a drill.

“We always talk about active shooters, but an evacuation could be for a chemical release, it could be for a fire in the school, so it’s better to be prepared, have actually walked through it, see what is happening, go through the procedures of the lockdown,” said Lou Vargo, an EMA liaison with Wheeling police and fire.
