FBI investigates alleged FBIJobs.gov breach and possible exposure of employee data

The FBI is investigating claims that a cybercriminal group compromised the FBIJobs.gov portal and may have obtained personally identifiable information belonging to FBI employees.

The bureau said it is aware of the group’s claims but has not yet determined where the alleged breach occurred, including whether the intrusion affected an FBI system or one of the third-party providers supporting FBIJobs.gov.

The FBI said it is actively investigating the incident and working closely with outside service providers to identify the source of the possible breach and reduce any potential risk.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the amount of information that may have been accessed or whether the cybercriminal group’s claims about FBI employee data are accurate.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the scope and origin of the reported compromise.
