Newburgh police investigate stabbing during attempted robbery

City of Newburgh police are investigating a stabbing reported early Sunday that left a man injured during an attempted robbery.

Officers responded to the area of 50 Benkard Avenue at about 2:16 a.m. Sept.

20, after receiving a report of a stabbing, according to the City of Newburgh Police Department.

Police said officers found a male victim suffering from stab wounds sustained during an attempted robbery. He was taken to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for treatment.
