Poland detains 17-year-old suspected of preparing terrorist attack on school and mosque

Polish authorities have detained a 17-year-old suspected of preparing a terrorist attack, with investigators saying a school and a mosque were among possible targets.

The Internal Security Agency arrested Paweł G. on September 18, while prosecutors disclosed new details of the case on Tuesday.

Investigators allege the teenager planned to kill a group of people, discussed the plan with another person and intended to obtain weapons and military equipment. Authorities said messages connected to the investigation referred to ammunition, grenades and Molotov cocktails.

During a search, officers reportedly recovered knives, an AKM-type bayonet and Nazi and fascist material.

Prosecutors said the suspected threat was considered real. The teenager faces three charges and has been ordered held in custody for three months.

He has not admitted guilt and declined to testify.

Two other suspects connected to the investigation were referred to juvenile court.
