House in street explodes and reduced to rubble as cops rush to major incident

Police have been called to the site of an “explosion” at a property in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. On social media, Nottinghamshire Police said it was at the scene of an “emergency incident” and urged people to avoid the area around John Street.

Residents reported seeing “smoke” over Worksop and hearing a “loud explosion” at around 8pm. “Anyone else just hear/see that loud explosion and smoke over Worksop?” one person wrote on Facebook.

Unverified images show the street covered in debris and a severely damaged house. An incident of this nature has not been confirmed by police.
