CANTON, Ohio — A 32-year-old woman died after being stabbed during an argument with a female relative on the morning of July 10, according to Canton Police.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 9:35 a.m. and found paramedics treating Ayla M. Mangan in the backyard of a home on 20th Street NE. Mangan, of the 1900 block of Midway Avenue NE, had suffered a stab wound to the back and was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the stabbing occurred during a heated argument between the two women. The Stark County Coroner’s Office confirmed Mangan was 32 years old.

Though police have not yet publicly identified a suspect or confirmed any arrests, jail records show that a woman — identified as a relative of Mangan — was booked into the Stark County Jail later that afternoon. She faces charges of murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
