5 teens injured in predawn crash in Englewood neighborhood

Five young teens were critically injured in a crash involving a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning on the South Side in the Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Around 3:15 a.m., the teens were speeding in a Chevy sedan in the 6900 block of South Lowe Avenue when they struck a fire hydrant, police said.

A 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. A 13-year-old girl, and two more girls, both 14, were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

A weapon was recovered at the scene.
