Man found fatally shot in SUV on Columbia Road near Boston middle school

No arrests have been made a day after a man was fatally shot inside an SUV on a busy stretch of Columbia Road during the height of Monday afternoon’s rush hour commute, Boston police said.

 

The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. on Columbia Road near Devon Street. Video from the scene showed crime tape covering a Ford Escape that had crashed into another car and ended up facing the wrong way on Columbia Road. Witnesses say they saw a man slumped over inside of the vehicle.

The gunfire rang out near Lilia Frederick Pilot Middle School, where children were inside during an after-school program. The campus went into “safe mode” for about 20 minutes, according to Boston Public Schools.
