Deputies shot and killed a man who they say stabbed his father to death inside a home in Hacienda Heights, a source told Eyewitness News.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the home near Dawn Haven and Colima roads around 5:30 a.m. Monday. A 911 call came from within the home, but it’s unclear what led up to the deadly stabbing.

The source said the the suspect confronted deputies when they arrived, and that’s when they opened fire in the front yard.

The suspect died at the scene, but it’s unclear if he was still armed at the time.
