Officials warn of attempted kidnapping in Lincoln Square

A man described as white and his late 30s tried to grab a child Monday afternoon and pull them into his “very dirty” vehicle, according a public safety statement from two Lincoln Square aldermen.

About 2 p.m. Monday, Chicago police got a call reporting an attempted kidnapping at Ainslie Street and Seeley Avenue, according to an email from Aldermen Andre Vasquez, 40th, and Matt Martin, 47th.

The caller said a dark blue Toyota Corolla pulled next to a child who was walking ahead of a parent. The driver then attempted to pull the child through the driver’s side window, the statement said.

The child hit the driver and ran away. The driver, who reportedly had medium length brown hair, fled west on Ainslie.
